Bad Voodoo Bastard's bloody history

It doesn’t have to be grotesque or monstrous, beastly or demonic; nor does it require torture porn or ubiquitous blood and guts.
Great music need only elicit an emotional response to subtly get under the skin of the listener.
We do all of the above.

Bad Voodoo Bastard history

Bad Voodoo Bastard arose from the primordial quagmire in 2013 with Shep, Paul & Callum O’Berg as protagonists. In those early, heady days, firm favourite songs such as Death Proof, Nightmare Rock, Knucklefucked, Dead & Gone, Battery Acid & Honey and Hell’s Belle were already in the set and ready to terrorise unsuspecting audiences. Three of these tracks featured on the band’s first release, the ‘Death Proof’ e.p. (Death Proof, Dead & Gone and Battery Acid & Honey), currently available on BandCamp.

Unfortunately, Callum had to leave shortly after the recording sessions. Bad Voodoo Bastard then recruited our good friend Pete ‘Pedro’ Haynes on lead guitar and began working on more material, much of which remains in the set list to this day. At this point, we were without a permanent drummer, although our friend Jake Read had deputised as the drummer and engineer on the Death Proof e.p.

Undaunted, Bad Voodoo Bastard pressed on, writing more songs for 14 months until we happened upon the drummer Kris Boyd. Kris fitted in with the band perfectly, being 6’3”, heavily tattooed & funny as fuck. We like that. Bad Voodoo Bastard went on to play several shows, some of which were sold out successes. The band then went on hiatus for a few years due to outside commitments, before reconvening post-pandemic. After reassembling, the band began recording the debut album “We Ride Tonite” with Shep, Paul, Pedro & Kris, although unfortunately Kris left before any useable tracks were completed. Luckily, our friend Kenny Silvers stepped in and laid the drum tracks down for 14 songs (even though now he has also disappeared!!!).

11 of these songs made it to the final edit of the debut album ‘We Ride Tonite’. Come 2021, Bad Voodoo Bastard had young drumming prodigy Lewis Shipley join the band for two years, before leaving for pastures new. Without a drummer for some time, Bad Voodoo Bastard advertised to fill the slot.

This brings the bands history up to date and makes Bad Voodoo Bastard a force to be reckoned with… make sure you get to experience this for yourself.
